i have purchased a gas4free system, built my fuel cell, but when i use their formula of 1 bottle of water, 5 tablespoons of salt, and 1 tablespoon of hydrogen peroxide my fuel cell overheats rapidly and i am afraid it is going to explode. i am waiting and waiting for an answer from their tech department but they seem to take forever to answer. i only have a few more days to complete my conversion so i hope someone can help answer my question of why this is occuring.

Hello John,

That sounds like is alot of salt and that other stuff you adding to the gallon(guessing) of water. You have to find out the amperage that the unit is running at and then adjust the electrolyte by adding less salt. I can not tell you the exact formula because every set up is different. Try to keep the cell at around 20 amps or less. Let me know how it goes.

Thanks,

Robert

robert,

thank you for your input. i also believe i am using way to much salt. we are going to try hooking it back up and decreasing the salt as you suggest and also keeping the amprege draw down. i will let you know how it works.

Hey John,

You should seriously consider putting a pulse width modulator (PWM) rated at 30 amps between your battery and your hho unit.  With that, you can control the amperage to the unit to prevent overheating.  Without it, you have to guess at the right mix of chemicals.  Most of us use them for safety's sake.

Think of a nuclear reactor without any controls and you get the idea, your unit can overheat and overamp, destroying your wiring, the unit and anything else that gets in the way.  You can find PWMs in lots of places, do a google search for them.

  Hope this helps.

  John
